What is an audio zone?

An audio zone is an area (room) that you want to be able to play and control music in.  Audio zones are outfitted with speakers, touchpanels and/or keypads.  Audio zones have access to the single location audio sources, which can include:

  • FM
  • AM
  • XM satellite
  • Sirius satellite
  • CDs
  • IPOD
  • Media Managers

Separate source, volume and channel controls are located in each audio zone.  This enables the listener to choose music and control volume independently of other rooms.

Both wall mounted and ceiling recessed speakers can be used for audio zones.  Audio zones are not only limited to indoor applications.  Outdoor patios can also be transformed into audio zones which are great for entertaining or relaxing in.

What is a video zone?

A video zone is an area (room) that you want to be able to access video sources in.  Video zones can be outfitted with video displays or projectors. These zones can have access to:

  • Cable box
  • Satellite
  • DVD library
  • Media Managers

Different sources can be accessed in different video zones all at the same time, or shared between zones.  Media Managers can control, and store, your DVD collection and allow for DVDs to be viewed throughout your home.

*A cable box is needed for each video in order to view different channels in different audio zones?

Video Zone Application Notes:

  • Home theatres reach their full potential by being both an audio and video zone.
  • Video Zones do not have to have sound- Product and company advertising loop videos or menu boards can be displayed on televisions and projector screens.  By doing this it is easy to make updates and changes without having to create costly new signs each time.

What is a voice/data/video point?

A voice/data/video point allows for connections to data/internet, phone service, cable/satellite boxes and also wireless networks.  All of this comes out of one discreetly placed wall plate, making multiple sockets and meters of cables tacked to walls a thing of the past.

Can I listen to the radio in the kitchen whilst another household member listens to a CD in the Living room?

Yes, with the multiple source, multiple zone system users can play different sources in different rooms (zones) simultaneously.

What is the advantage of having all the equipment located in one room?

Your house is not full of unsightly equipment and boxes.  Everything is easily accessible on a gliding rack. Repairs, modifications and upgrades are easily made as everything is in one place.

How much space is required?

To install the systems a small amount of space is needed that is in a well ventilated, dry place away from stairwells and exits.

The Audio/Video rack requires a width of about 2ft with a depth of about 3ft. (most systems are run off of one rack, however if you are installing a larger system multiple racks may be required).

Are your systems easily installed in existing structures?

Each install is different and depending n the scope of the work, the install may require some civil work i.e. cutting of interior/exterior walls.  Many systems have wireless components which may be more suitable for smaller installations.

Ideally we prefer to be introduced to projects at the earlier stage so that we can advise of the conduits required to achieve the goals for your system.

Can I access my system remotely from the internet?

Yes you can access and control your audio/ video lighting system from a device that allows you internet access. i.e. iPod, laptop, blackberry device etc. You can also access and view your security cameras from anywhere in the world. This feature is great for putting on approved movies and music for your children at home, turning on the lights for you or a house guest from a remote area, keeping an eye on your house if you leave it vacant for extended periods, or just for checking to make sure you closed the front gate.
